Our Programs
Professional support, time with horses and room to reconnect.
At Bluebird Equine Therapeutic Ranch, we bring together therapy, guided horse activities and time in nature. We welcome children ages 6 and older, veterans and others seeking support, with a special focus on disabled veterans and children who have experienced trauma.
Your experience begins with a conversation. We take time to understand your needs, explain our services and help you prepare for your first visit.
Equine Therapy and Guided Horse Activities
Start with an introduction.
Build from there.
You do not need experience with horses to take the first step. Initial visits include therapy and an introduction to the horses, giving you an opportunity to become familiar with the animals and the ranch.
Licensed clinicians provide therapy, while our horse trainer leads activities with the horses. These roles bring professional mental health support and horse handling experience to your time at Bluebird.
As clients advance, their experiences can include:
- Horseback riding
- Grooming and feeding
- Guided activities with the horses
- Gardening and other outdoor activities
We will discuss what participation may involve during the intake process. Activities vary according to your stage of participation.
Support for Children
A welcoming place to explore and connect.
Bluebird welcomes children ages 6 and older who are facing trauma or mental and behavioral health challenges.
Through therapy and guided experiences with horses, children have opportunities to engage with animals, try unfamiliar activities and spend time in a supportive setting. Early visits focus on introductions, helping each child become familiar with the people, horses and surroundings.
If you are considering Bluebird for your child, contact us to discuss their needs and learn what to expect.
Support for Veterans
Space to reconnect and receive support.
Bluebird has a special focus on disabled veterans. Our ranch brings together professional therapeutic support, guided horse activities and time outdoors.
Whether you are exploring services for yourself or someone you care about, we welcome your questions. The intake process gives us an opportunity to understand what brings you to Bluebird and discuss whether our services may be a good fit.
Others Seeking Support
You are welcome to start a conversation.
Children and veterans are central to our mission, but our doors are also open to others who may benefit from our services.
You do not have to know exactly what you need before reaching out. Tell us a little about yourself, ask questions and learn more about the support available at the ranch.
Gardening and Time in Nature
Opportunities to participate beyond the saddle.
Our 57½ acres provide space to step away from everyday demands and spend time outdoors.
As clients advance, gardening and animal care can become part of their experience alongside therapy and horse activities. Grooming, feeding and tending a garden offer different ways to participate in daily life at the ranch.
Our Partnership With Paws for Hope
Caring for animals. Creating opportunities for connection.
Bluebird is partnering with Paws for Hope, a nonprofit founded by Rev. Cindy Cline, to support the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs.
Through this partnership, we plan to house rescued dogs at the ranch and train suitable dogs as service animals for clients. Some dogs will also participate in therapeutic activities. Dogs who are not rehomed will remain at the ranch and continue to receive care.
Contact us to learn about the partnership’s progress and current opportunities to get involved.
Professional Care at Bluebird
Knowing who supports you matters.
Our licensed clinicians provide therapy, and our horse trainer guides activities with the horses.
Clinical Director Ed Green, MSSW, LCSW, brings more than 25 years of behavioral health experience to Bluebird. His approach recognizes each person’s strengths and the effects of trauma, with an emphasis on compassionate, ethical care.
